New Year’s Resolutions
I have never been one to make resolutions, however I have always been a goal setter. Like most people, my goal for this year has been staying alive. I have been extremely housebound and cautious, but I have also been very busy indie publishing my first two books and learning a ton about online media. I like to keep my brain working, especially when I can’t visit anyone.
So, for the coming year, since there will be another four to six months before I can get the vaccine, I plan to finish my third book and publish it through traditional channels. This means that I may have to wait up to a year or more to hear back from publishers and wade through multiple rejections, but I am committed to this.
My second goal is to learn everything I can about marketing my projects. I have been busy networking with other authors to this end and I thoroughly enjoy it.
There are so many kind and knowledgeable writers out there who are willing to listen and offer solutions. It’s a great community to tap into.
My other goal is to read more. I try to support my fellow bloggers and spend a lot of time reading and commenting on their blogs. I also buy their books and constantly have a virtual stack of them waiting for me. It’s actually kind of overwhelming, but I will set time aside each day to read.
We all need to work on fitness, but I have stopped worrying about a number on the scale. I believe this is just a recipe for self-loathing. I know I need to be more active and I go for a long walk every day, but I won’t go back to the gym until I get a vaccine. I miss it terribly for the mood lift it brings, but it’s a small sacrifice to make, given the current state of affairs.
So, I wish you all a better year ahead, with good health and greater freedoms hopefully coming soon. Happy 2021 and thank you for supporting my blog!
