The Sixth Wave
The latest Omicron BA.2 variant is now spreading like wildfire. As of the end of March, one in twenty people in the UK had it. Now it is moving fast through Canada. Last week my husband tested positive after playing in a pool tournament which became a super-spreader event.
We were both really sick for over a week, although my rapid test said negative for some reason. I am almost at two weeks and still have a bad cough/ cold and heavy fatigue. At the worst of it, I was sleeping every three hours.
This virus is no joke. I scared myself realizing that I would most certainly have died if not for the three vaccines I’ve already had. Granted, I’m not a young person anymore, but I thought I was stronger than this. For people who live alone, this must be really frightening.
I feel stupid for having let my guard down enough to take off my mask in public when restrictions were lifted last month. I think we all breathed a huge sigh of relief when the government said this is not a pandemic anymore, it’s now an endemic, like the flu. I would urge you all to remain cautious when gathering with friends.
Have any of you had this latest variant? Were you hit hard too, or did you find it milder and more manageable? Please subscribe / share a comment below.
