Synchronicity

Yesterday I went to a Meetup group in a local park. I have been going for a few months to meet other women, since we just moved to a new town eight months ago. I know some of the regulars, but yesterday there were three new women there.

After chatting for about an hour with the group to my right, I turned my chair to engage with those on my left. I asked one of the new women where they grew up. Then things started clicking in a strange way. We were from the same town, the same high school grad class, the same music program. I was a flautist and she sat right behind me as a clarinet player. When we shared our maiden names it clicked; we suddenly recognized each other’s faces. We started naming off people we mutually knew.

Then it got even weirder. We had both moved out to the same suburb to raise our kids and she lived around the corner from me. Our kids are the same age and went to the same high school. In spite of this, we had never crossed paths during all this time.

Now, having gone through a painful divorce and with her kids all grown, she is on her own here and looking to make new friends, just as I am. It seems like the forces of nature have brought us together, even though we never really hung out back in high school. Call it synchronicity, if you will. I plan to reach out now to get to know her better. How could I not?

Have you ever felt a moment of synchronicity like this where the stars seem to align for you in a strange and wonderful way? Do you even believe in this notion of the universe trying to steer you in a certain direction? Please subscribe and leave a comment below.
